Man sought in Rhawnhurst bank heist

Police and the FBI seek the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed the TruMark Financial Credit Union in Rhawnhurst last Wednesday.

The robber entered the business at 7306 Castor Ave. at 7:06 p.m., handed a demand note to a teller, obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. He was last seen headed north on Castor Avenue toward Rhawn Street.

He was described as a black man in his 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and stocky. He has a round face, light complexion and short facial hair. He wore a green jacket, light-colored pants, light brown work boots and a tan baseball cap with a green bill. The cap had a purplish logo with “Martine’s” or a similar name on it.

Authorities believe the same man robbed the First Niagara Bank at 11730 Bustleton Ave. in Somerton on Jan. 16.

To report information about these cases, call the FBI at 215–418–4000 or Philadelphia police at 215–686-TIPS. ••
